Vulture Feeding at Senegambia
"Another absolutely brillant morning!" - Cathy Casey
This half day tour is a bird watching experience with a difference and the most enormous fun! In fact the last group were so enchanted with these extraordinary birds; they went back for a second visit and combined it with a trip to the local sewage works (!) with Modu - the resident bird guide for expert direction.
The Senegambia hotel encourages a wide variety of birds to visit its tropical gardens and have a daily feeding program, when about 100 vultures and kites settle in the trees and lawns waiting for Modu to appear with a tray of meat.
It can be a little intimidating being surrounded by such a huge amount of vultures but once you are reassured they are carrion eaters and not interested in you other than pulling your shoe laces and peering into your camera lens - it is a wonderful experience to get 'up close and personal' with a wild bird!
