Ngala Lodge Hotel

Ngala Hotel

The Luxury Collection

From its magnificent elevated setting, Ngala Lodge combines individual character with a highly personalised service in a relaxed and friendly environment.

The Ngala Lodge, as featured exclusively in The Gambia Experience Luxury Collection, is the perfect setting for Art & Photography Workshops. Situated just outside Bakau, a bustling African town, facilities at this intimate, elevated, cliff-top property include private tropical gardens, a swimming pool, access to a secluded beach and the acclaimed Ngala Lodge Restaurant.

The emphasis here is very much on individual service, for example, guests can choose to enjoy breakfast on their private balcony or in the restaurant that benefits from outstanding views. The restaurant is run by a superb chef, Michael Momorski, who is always keen to arrange a wine tasting or tour of the kitchens. The food enjoys a well-established recommendation for excellence in service and cuisine with many locals choosing to dine there.

The photographic workshop prices are based on sharing a suite in the main building of Ngala Lodge, though we are sometimes offered single suites with no supplements! These rooms were originally part of a colonial mansion and there are 9 suites over 2 floors, plus a 2-storey penthouse with its private rooftop terrace. Each is unique, however all are extremely comfortable and spacious with many individual features and little touches designed to make guests feel very much at home.

For something a little bit special we can offer two types of upgraded suite in either the separate Manor building, or the Atlantic suites. Both are larger in size with superior standards and levels of service; the Manor encompasses four spacious 1-bedroom suites, and has its own gardens with hot tub and jacuzzi, and the Atlantic suites are more modern in style, each with its own private jacuzzi. In total, there are eighteen suites and all are air-conditioned and equipped with fans and mosquito nets.

Ngala enjoys a magnificent setting looking out from its cliff-top position across the swimming pool and gardens to the ocean beyond. The secluded beach is accessible via steep steps and it would be wise to take advice on local conditions before swimming.
